I just spoke with Wilts FAL to see if they had everything they required, seems they had. I asked if they had contacted Referees yet and was told they don't contact all Referees and may or may not. I forgot to ask if they had contacted the GP, but I guess that is something too much in the news not to. It would seem that Wilts FAL, at least, value historical evidence built up over years of holding an FAC and are not wasting time and effort asking the same questions of the same people. It is almost as though you build up some credit over time and a element of trust comes into the Renewal and Variation process.

Michael Ryan was not a registered schizophrenic.

After Hungerford a couple of psychiatrists thought he may have been schizophrenic and possibly psychotic but he was never a "registered" schizophrenic.

Certificate arrived back a couple of days ago with everything I asked for, two new slots and an increase in ammunition allowance across all calibres - they even gave me an allowance for both 44spl and 44mag although 38/357 are still combined. Referees not contacted and no FEO visit. Seems Wilts FAL are adopting a more efficient process by not asking questions they already have the answers to. Wilts have always been good to deal with and I wonder if this new approach has to do with a trust being built over years between the certificate holder and FAL. Whatever it seems a step in the right direction for both parties. The new certificate starts on 27th June so I still have the old certificate, which was not required for the renewal, and which must be returned when it expires, so at no point was I without an original certificate. Well done Wilts.
