Lydd and Hythe ranges in Kent

#1 Post by Charlie J »

Can anyone tell me how I can get to shoot at these ranges if at all . I am in a club that does not go there and am also an NRA member and shoot at Bisley with and without the club.
I will ask the NRA if nobody knows .
Cheers Chas

I used to shoot there with the Army when I was based at Shorncliffe, Infantry Junior Leaders Battalion. Lots of fond memories, particlaurly the long march back to Folkestone!

I think White Cliffs Shooting Club shoot there. I'd be interested to know how often they get access to the ranges, we seem to be constantly turned down to shoot at Kingsbury, near Birmingham.

As a member of the FCSA (Fifty cal club), I am aware that they shoot there around once a month.

All calibres are welcome, not just those within HME.

I was there yesterday. Serial 1, Hythe, 300m. A good morning. Where in Kent are you Chas? There's a wagon load of clubs shoot there. Lydd Rifle Club is probably the best organised there is. 120 quid a year, two shoots per month at either Lydd or Hythe. There is a waiting list for membership there and they can be found on the net.

Failing that, Kent firearms licensing will give you the numbers of the secretary of clubs and currently using those ranges off the top of my head would include, Dover & Deal, Ramsgate, Ashford & District, Cheriton Rifke & Pistol, Maidstone Pistol. Actually just about anyone based in Kent!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Last time I was there it was GPMG in SF mode. Tank hulls at around 1200 yards plus.
