Cost? - The Proof Houses publish their prices so you should be able to calculate quickly, 1) will be more expensive, 2) will be cheaper, or 3) take it yourself if you live within easy commute and bring them back later.
I wasn't sure whether RFDs get a better deal when sending multiple items to be proofed or not.

I would assume you would need to send the rifle of suitable calibre and threading?
I hope this isn't the case, because I have no intention of sending a rifle and a moderator to the proof house to get an adapter proofed.

how are you expecting them to proof them if you don't supply the rifle and/or moderator? my understanding is the proof house is a one trick pony, they don't do non destructive testing so rely on the centuries old (and well outdated) method of an overloaded charge being fired down a barrel (and reportedly on occasion a very overloaded charge!) are you expecting them to make a rig for your parts? if so the cost may exceed the value of the parts ?

I do not understand why you would want to.

Once a moderator has been fitted to a firearm, it becomes section 1 itself once removed ?

So, when your item is proofed - is the device it is fitted to considered a firearm for the purposes of legislation ?

I've just had a look at the only muzzle brake I have and lonand behold, it has proof marks!! Weird.

It's an RPA brake for their Inteceptor rifles.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

I don't believe this is the case.

Odd Job wrote:I am considering getting 6 devices proofed which are not FAC items (things like compensators, brakes, adapters etc).

What is the most cost effective method:

1) Pay an RFD to send these with the next batch of items he sends for proofing
2) Send them to the proof house myself

Any thoughts on this? Any idea on costs?
I) Contact the proofhouse and ask them about getting the items "proofed"

2) Please then post on here what they said as we are all curious as to their reply.

No I don't think so, some moderators are proofed as a mater of course by the manufacturer or distributor and then sold by the RFD as either FAC or Air Rifle mods and licensed accordingly.
Arming the Country, one gun at a time.

Good deals with Paul101, Charlotte the flyer, majordisorder, Charlie Muggins, among others. Thanks everybody.
