Re: Dedicated AR Section
Breacher, it was aimed at Strangely Brown and I forgot to quote him.
Strangely Brown has posted several times in the defence of people who tried to make life on this forum difficult for both users and admin.
Good riddance to these people, nothing but trouble and on top of that there were threats as well.

Re: Dedicated AR Section
I've certainly defended the way Bradders was kicked off. But several times, and other people?christel wrote:Breacher, it was aimed at Strangely Brown and I forgot to quote him.

I think not!

But the lines on this forum are very blurred in terms of what is or is not acceptable.
As I said, we have many threads about those who are "too easily offended" and the general consensus is that we should be allowed ( in the name of banter ) to be as offensive / straight talking / near the knuckle / non-pc ( choose your preferred term ) as we want to be. And anybody taking offence ? Well, thats their problem !
Mark Bradley ? Yes, some love him and some hate him. His banter is epic in terms of bluntness. His humour is very black. Anybody who witnesses the banter between him and me would think we dont like each other if they did not know us. Yet, we get along just fine, in terms of professional dealings and socially. I would go so far as to say, he is the most misunderstood ( online ) person I have ever met. I know of several who have incurred his wrath online and then gotten a bloody good deal on a sale or gunplumbing job as if nothing ever happened.
I can think of one person on here cast from a similar mould - blunt talking, straight to the point whilst devoid of tact, dark sense of humour and totally fixed in their views..............and they are a Mod !!
I am the first to accept rules and either abide by them or move somewhere else. But as I have said, the "red line" in terms of how far banter can go on this forum seems to be blurred. Some "get away with" saying things that others dont.

I tend to read more than I actually post on here and will only post if I feel I'm making a contribution.Grizzly wrote:And yet you are still here...Strangely Brown wrote:You only have to look at how many other good people are no longer on this site, Gaz, Steve East, Karen who was with the NRA etc to realise that the problem might not have been Bradders fault after all....kennyc wrote:from memory, in his inimitable style he managed to make himself the first Banned person on Full-bore I can't remember how long it took, but it was a sterling effort

The feeling I got from that was "If you dont like it here - leave" - Yet if SB did flounce out because he was offended, he would be branded as one of the snowflakes who cannot take a joke !

Re: Dedicated AR Section
I don't care what specialist sections there are , I would only look at the ones I was interested in , seems simple to me ?
is there a section that isn't moderated by dromia ? that's a section I would probably frequent but it looks like herr obergrupenfurher moderates everything.........

Re: Dedicated AR Section
sorry but I do remember a lot of this, and he wasn't the innocent victim you would like to betray him as, I also know he is not at all like his online persona in real life, that is not a mitigating factor. unfortunately some peoples humour needs to be experienced first hand and the internet is not always the best medium as it is so open to interpretation. I was on hiatus from the forum when the other mentioned people "left" so have no idea of the causes, but I was here for Bradders tenureStrangely Brown wrote:You only have to look at how many other good people are no longer on this site, Gaz, Steve East, Karen who was with the NRA etc to realise that the problem might not have been Bradders fault after all....kennyc wrote:from memory, in his inimitable style he managed to make himself the first Banned person on Full-bore I can't remember how long it took, but it was a sterling effort

Re: Dedicated AR Section
I remember both situations on here and although bradders had a lot to offer it was just too tempting to him to kick off when he was given a few final warnings.
The NRA fan club definitely caused an atmosphere that made the forum less of a relaxed place to be. I don't know how much work had to be done behind the scenes to try and sort the situation out but I'm guessing a lot and it clearly didn't work as in the end they chose to leave.
I want an S58 sub forum!
