Re: Straight pull section or not.
To be honest migrating to another forum that deals with just straight pulls is missing the point really. The best idea in my mind is to have everything under one roof so its just a click away without logging in to other forums and fannying about.

It IS entirely possible - it just requires a little more tolerance and little less trolling. I refer to the Mod not the members.

Hey, if it means I get a bit more time with my wife I say go for it. She spends countless and apparently thankless hours along with Dromia on the administration of this forum and I can see she is working on it right now today, a Sunday. Personally I am very impressed with her fortitude, I know what I would have done by now :)

Re: Straight pull section or not.
I would be happy to give up some of my time and moderate a straiggt pull forum. If lack of mods is an issue ?Ovenpaa wrote:Hey, if it means I get a bit more time with my wife I say go for it. Happy to give something back.......

Re: Straight pull section or not.
Good luck to the new forum

Re: Straight pull section or not.
Not really. I'm calling you on your BS and you reply with unrelated facts.breacher wrote:I was referring to the RIFLES.light and no frills - probably not typical of the tacticool ARs used by many who don't compete in CSR.
Strange statement. And yet I've seen webbing and morale patches at CSR shoots. Made me laugh. Bipod anyone?
Webbing ? Very little. 99% of the courses of fire require 10 or 12 rounds. In fact taking more than the prescribed number to the point is not allowed. Over the course of a season, there are a couple of matches where 3 mag reloads are required. Some carry in a pouch and some in a pocket. Some do neither as the safety supervisor is allowed to carry them.
Bipods - none allowed in service class - the one with most ARs.
Morale patches ? I think you are wandering slightly from my point !
You were implying that people who own AR's that don't shoot CSR, by definition, typically require 6 maglite's and a couple of lasers. Yet your practical optic rifle has more addons than mine and I don't shoot CSR.
There are "tacticool loving" people in every part of the shooting community, CSR is no exception (yet you somehow think it is).
All good fun :)

You are missing my point so we shall have to agree to differ.Grizzly wrote:Not really. I'm calling you on your BS and you reply with unrelated facts.breacher wrote:I was referring to the RIFLES.light and no frills - probably not typical of the tacticool ARs used by many who don't compete in CSR.

Re: Straight pull section or not.
I believe they were, at that time most of the UK straight pull discussion tended to be on the UK sub forum of AR15.com where all of the behaviour complained about by both sides of the current discussion was rampant, leading eventually to the imposition of a forum moderator and the exit of a large number of members to another forum.breacher wrote:More like a load of regulars at the pub asking the landlord if he would not mind stocking their favourite beer in addition to what he already serves.
I am guessing that some point someone chose the original sub forums based on what would be popular ? Just seems that straight pulls are now popular and even a significant part of the UK shooting scene. Were they even in existance when this forum was created ?
As I said, where is the harm ?
I am not trying to speak for anyone else here, but I suspect the Forum admin are well aware of the disruption that can be caused by a noisey minority and would prefer not to have to deal with such, indeed the constant trolling of this subject which is taking place now is evidence of the pitfalls that can arise (and would not be tolerated on CSR/AR15.com or indeed many if any other forums.)
forums exist because people want to visit them, they can die through neglect, or through overspecialisation, or because the bulk of membership can't abide the activities of a few, and so stop visiting, forum moderation is a thankless task and can never satisfy everbody, it is also open to abuse whether deliberate or accidental, this forum has survived pretty well for a considerable time in forum terms, because it caters to the general needs of most of its members, note I said "most" not "all" it can never cater to all, and should not be expected to.
if it helps at all I think the moderation on this forum is not perfect although infact is reasonably restrained, in my modding days there would have been a lot less discussion and a lot more banning, time is too short for one or two people to be drawn into long detailed arguments of why/if/what with a group of people the ban button ALWAYS sorts these arguments out and leaves enough time for another episode of "forged in fire "

Re: Straight pull section or not.
Forged in Fire! That's it! Thanks Kenny I'd forgotton what the programme was called and I see it's on Youtube.
Oh, and good post!
