Cerokote and Duracoat

Fancy having a go with this on a couple of shotguns

Which is best for what ?
When applying what spray gun set up works best ie tip size etc ?
HVLP or can i get away with LVLP ?

HVLP with a 0,8mm tip at 20-25psi is a good starting point.

EDIT - Forgot to add that was for Cerakote and keep what you have not used in the fridge as it goes off with time and the cool seems to help it store longer.

I listen to Tom Gresham's "Gun Talk" podcast every week and this week a guy phoned in talking about a pistol he had Cerokoted.....

During the application, the serial No. had been completely covered over, making it impossible to read. Worth thinking about for us over this side of the pond.

A good test to see if you have applied your Cerakote correctly is paint an M6 nut and bolt. They should screw together afterwards.

If it's done properly, Cerakote won't obscure a serial no.

From a home use application, I'd stick with Duracote. Duracote is an expoxy paint. It goes on a lot thicker than Cerakote so certain gun parts which fit closely couldn't be Duracoted.

Cerakote is a specialist process which requires correct metal preparation, cleaning and baking after applying. If you don't do it properly, you may as well just spray it with an aerosol.

I've had many jobs Cerakoted by Osprey Rifles and watched Stuart at work.
