A lot of training needed for this role as they deal with explosives as well.
Don't apply if you know anything about guns!
Purveyor of fine cast boolits.
All round good guy and VERY grumpy old man.

I remember having a visit re my shotgun renewal about 12 years ago and had seen a similar job advertised. I mentioned it to the lady who came out and she said they get loads of shooters applying and ex forces and they are the last people they want as they envisage shooters would be far too interested in other peoples guns, would take a lot longer doing visits and may be biased!
Remember, we're all here because we're not all there!

Three FEOs I can think of straight off the top of my head are all shooters themselves! Two are ex Old Bill and one's an ex major with the Drop Shorts. One of them is actually in my club and stalks with his iron sighted No4!

As always, there are all sorts of individuals doing a job...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Oh, and that salary will be for the full time position, so part time pro rata.

Too far away for me but I have often considered applying locally as a nice little tickover salaried part time job.
I've always been put off by the assumed bias against shooters I've oft heard and the lack of training - especially with the police computer system and other aspects in that area. Not a huge obstacle (one of the many jobs I later had was in IT) but they always seem to expect you have experience of the police computer database.

Wayyyy back in time as a fingerprint officer in the 80s everything I did with TVP was paper-based. People don't believe it now but our fingerprint files were literally bundled together in order of patterns in a hardboard sandwich with a cloth belt around them. We'd scry our way through educated searches looking for sixteen points of recognition on a smeary SOCO photo with a desktop magnifying glass. Zero luxuries like computers.
