Just to correct your comments, my AR-15 Clone is actually a "Spikes Tactical ST-22", so therefore its not an original and does not pretend to be original but it is what they say they are pretty good reproduction.dromia wrote:One thing is for certain they are not genuine Henry's or Winchesters but even though they do function almost exactly the same as the originals they don't pretend to be original but are what they say they are pretty good reproductions.
They are what they are, so call them what you will, it bothers me not a jot!
Works for me!!dromia wrote:The pretendy refers to the fact that UK ARs are not gas operated semi/full auto firearms like the real ARs and their clones. Here in the UK the best we can do is straight pull look a likes that do not function like the original that is reason I see them as pretendy, refer to then as straight pulls on an AR platform or whatever and I have no grief with that as that is what they are.
That is my take on it, if people want to think Winchesters are pretendy Henrys, replicas as fakes or whatever else I'm not going loose any sleep over it, continually spit out dummies over it, keep gurning on about it or look to have a go at any opportunity as some of our pretendy AR owners choose to do.
No offence is intended but if people choose to be offended by my view then that is up to them but it certainly isn't going to change my view.
Straight pull firearms on an AR platform are great guns, give people a lot of pleasure and seem to have found a competitive niche for themselves here which is all to the good, but they are not to be confused with the real gas operated ARs. This is my view which I am fully entitled to and which other people are fully entitled to disagree with. Just hacking it over and over again however is an exercise in futility as it won't change my view or stop my use of the word "pretendy" in relation to UK legal section 1 versions of semi and full auto firearms.
