Indeed my expectations of the NRA and the rest of the organisations are unrealistic based on their lack of performance in protecting legal gun owners from the irrational and predatory actions of the Home Office. However their short sightedness and lack of rectitude on behalf of legal gun owners will eventually lead their own demise, much sooner that they seem to think.

Which is what I referred to earlier. They wont be after specific calibres - more about what they deem to be ( or capaple to be used as ) anti-materiel rifles.

Totally agree. Far too many shooters and clubs just want to do what they want to do and are very unsupportive of anything else.

The natural spin off of this, of course, will be that it will be considered too impractical to limit these new storage pre-requisites just to .50 and MARS rifles so for 'clarity' it will be a condition for the storage of ALL firearms right down to the humblest .22 plinkers.

But I think your expectations of the NRA are largely unrealistic, it might say "promoting target shooting throughout the United Kingdom" on the website, but the reality is without the Bisley based income it would be 2 blokes bickering in a shed in Barnsley.

So why not call it the 'Surrey Shooting Club' and be done with it? Why pretend to be a National shooting organisation when it apparently only gives a crap about Bisley?

I pay my NRA subs because I want to hope they will represent all shooters up and down the country. If they aren't going to do that then my cash will be better used elsewhere.

Unrelated to the topic but in defence of the NRA, without them SIlverstone Shooting Centre would not exist, they have been tremendously supportive of what we have done here for the one single reason - it expands the number of places people can shoot which is their mandate.
