Mags and Plane luggages ?

#1 Post by froggy »

My understanding is that pistol and rifle mags (Vz58) are not prohibited items and I intend to take 2 +4 , as well as a pocket folding knife (lock blade), in a haul suitcase on a European flight.
Anybody know if I would be breaking any rule/law ?
thanks,

In a suitcase to be checked in as hold luggage.
The reason I am asking is because of Ryanair general guidances :

You cannot bring the following items onboard a Ryanair flight or in airport security restricted areas in the airport:
•Guns, Firearms or similar weapons
•Pointed/edged Weapons & Sharp Objects
•Blunt Instruments: any blunt instrument capable of causing injury, this includes some sporting equipment such as tennis rackets and baseball bats

Ryanair claims a blade over 6 cm can not be carried, even into a checked in suitcase .

You can carry tennis rackets and blades over 6 inches as checked baggage and you'd check those in before you get to any security restricted area's of the airport.

Section 8.9 are the prohibited items either in the cabin of checked in.

Many thanks :good: .
Clearly the information desk is unaware of their own rules...
I 'll print their own regulations and show it if they try to remove my knife ;)

I know 2 people who had their pmags taken away on trips back from the USA, all in carry on. Put it in your checked bag and you're not breaking any rules.
I carry 2 30 & 1 40 round mags on trips back and forth, keep the same mags for every competition, checked baggage. My 1-8 strike eagle has been back and forth in a padded ammo box, I keep competition invitations to prove I was doing legitimate stuff and reason for having etc.
