Selling a section 2 rifle to someone in Northern Ireland.
Hi all.
So someone in NI has enquired about my Winchester, can anyone tell me what the procedure is for a distance sale to someone in NI?
Thanks!

Section 2, sure it is not S1?
Procedure for NI as for the rest of the UK, drop it off at your RFD and he ships it using his preferred method, allow a couple of extra days for transport and another tenner or so above and beyond the normal rate.

Also, it would probably need to go to his RFD as he will not already have the required permission to acquire the firearm. He needs an invoice/bill of sale BEFORE he applies for a 'slot'/permission to acquire, unlike in GB where we can get the slot before choosing the firearm. He gets the bill of sale and applies then for a variation to his FAC. Current waiting times are around 10-12 weeks for an online application, I'm told.
He also can't practically buy it from a GB based RFD as they can only sell a firearm, (I believe but stand to be corrected), to someone who has permission to buy the firearm. By virtue of the NI system, he won't have this permission at the 'agreement of the deal'.

Section 1 yes, sorry, typo.
So basically he can send me the money and I can take the rifle and a receipt for the money to my RFD and they can send it to his RFD?

I would get your Firearms Certification departments take on it and ask specifically how it should be done as their current interpretation of the UK law states that the buyer needs to send you their FAC for completion by you the seller.
So selling to a NI buyer would break that law as evidently they can only get the permission after you have sold them the firearm.

Yes, I should have clarified it should be RFD to RFD.

All true. But it would be easy for it to be transfer it to a dealer in N/I if the buyer made the payment for the gun, he would then leave it at the N/I dealers to his Certificate came trough. If it was a one on one off of the same type and calibre it can be done at the dealers inside half a hour.
