Tools - Torque Screwdriver
Hi,
First question would be - does anyone actually use a torque screwdriver on their gun to ensure they don't overtighten? If so let's roll onto question 2
What would you recommend? looking for something not too expensive but not cheap and nasty.
Thanks
Chris

Yes, I do, though primarily for torqueing scope ring screws and base screws.
I use the Wheeler FAT (Firearms Accurizing Torque) Wrench https://www.opticswarehouse.co.uk/produ ... ue-wrench/ It comes in a set with 10 bits. It goes up to 65 inch/pounds.

Yes I use a couple and they are incredibly important if you are looking for repeatability when re-assembling things. You can also fine tune rifle accuracy by changing the torque slightly so something to experiment with.
TIP - always back your torque wrench back to zero when you have finished using it.

Also use the FAT wrench. Not a massive fan on the torque scale on the side as the indicator line is pretty wide (or is that fat...) and there's no indication in the instructions (that I noticed) as to whether the torque value should be taken from the top or bottom of the red line indicator - the width of the line covers 2-3ft/lbs so can be significant on lower torque values. Other than that its a pretty good item.

There's a blast from the past - I thought Kamasa tools went bust years ago. I still have some from the 1970-80's in regular use. good quality at a reasonable price.MotorRacingBruce1980 wrote:Had one of these for years and it works well enough for me.
