Re: New laws coming?
One small correction this bit should read TWENTY years later not ten:
Now consider that she graduated in 1996 from Guildhall University albeit she doesn't reveal at what level and I can't find find out myself that is an odd jump in responsibility. Actually reading between the lines you will note she was a legal Clerk in 1993 and twenty years later an intern for a short time...hmmm.

All this is at the moment is a proposed amendment to make possession of the components a criminal offence for those without authority.Daryll wrote:
Apart from the obvious .50 cal and MARS related bits, the thing that could affect many more shooters is reloading.....has anyone seen any clarification on reloading..?? exceptions for FAC holders..??
I doubt it will gain much traction, same as the proposed amendment to put shotgun ammo on Sec. 1.
The MPs putting forward these amendments are not experts in this field and have no idea what's involved in implementing these proposals. They're only one step removed from Ms Tuitt I would suggest.
What's concerning with all of this ATM is there are no amendments being proposed which water down or remove the proposals re: HME/MARS/LR rifles.

Re: New laws coming?
every counter arguement to this from them seems to only consist of
but what if terrorists?
think I might start using it in all arguements from now on

Re: New laws coming?
They should watch TV more as Ross Kemp's recent program Ross Kemp & the Armed Police had an illegal gun seller stating the demand was for concealable guns and not rifles. The West Midland Police then went on to say that armed officer numbers were increased to counter the terrorist threat but the reality was that armed officers were being used to counter drug and gang problems more. So from both side of the fence the issue with rifles whether high energy or supposed high fire rate was not there. I think it was the head of NABIS that fired off a sub-machine gun (not sure what is was) and the rate of fire was phenomenal and I couldn't see any MARS or LR getting near it (I can't with my SGC LR).

NC19 has just been withdrawn, so no changes there.BamBam wrote:Looks like minature rifle ranges are going, if clause NC19 is adopted.

Re: New laws coming?
Just to summarise so far:
Further air gun restrictions for under 18s - Clause withdrawn
Further controls over reloading components - Clause withdrawn
Further controls on miniature rifle ranges - Clause withdrawn
Offence of buying antique firearms for cash - Clause withdrawn
Compulsory register of antique firearms transactions - Clause withdrawn
Requiring a firearm certificate for shotgun ammunition - Clause withdrawn
Do you see a pattern emerging?
There's no appetite by the HO to bring in further legislation over and above what was in the proposed Bill in the first place.
What is still concerning is that there still seems to be no glimmer of hope for .50cal and MARS/LR owners other than a comment made this morning by Victoria Atkins which hinted that the Home Secretary was still considering enhanced security rather than a ban. Not much to go on there.
