Changing muzzle thread.

Barrel threaded m17.

Can it be threaded again WITHOUT lopping off the threaded bit and losing barrel length ? Is M17 thread wide enough to allow it to take a 5/8x24 thread ?

Oooh tight! Minor diameter for 17mmx 1.0 is 15.92mm.. Major diameter for 5/8-24 is 15.9mm - So, in theory, if everything was centred up in the first place it should just work.

I could get an adaptor run up I guess - m17 internal and 5/8 external.

Yes, that would work - Extend the 5/8th thread for 3-4 inches and you could fit a movable "tuner" weight in there too.

An Adaptor wouldn't work straight over the top. It would need to be an extension piece with the M17 hole in one end and the imperial male thread on the other end. Otherwise you have the possibility of having 0.02mm wall thickness in places!

Thats pretty much what I have found - looks to be about 2 or 3" long with male one end and female other end.
