Muzzle Brakes
Do you need anything on your licence to have a muzzle brake? I know with moderators a seperate entitlement is required.

Not for Muzzle Brakes. You can buy, sell or trade brakes as you please in the UK.

Re: Muzzle Brakes
Permission from the people you shoot with?
Seriously though, I shoot at a couple of clubs where muzzle brakes are strictly verboten. Fortunately mine is also QD mount for my suppressor, so when I shoot at those clubs the suppressor goes on automatically.

Re: Muzzle Brakes
It can be very unpleasant to shoot next to somebody with a muzzle brake!
At Bisley I have had my shoots ruined by people shooting next to me with a muzzle brakes. Be aware those next to you!
There is no law about muzzle brakes just good manners.

Re: Muzzle Brakes
At Bisley, you're supposed to declare intention to use a muzzle brake when booking a lane.............and the staff are supposed to allocate lanes so that there's a good distance between users and non users.
I've complained a couple of times to perpetrators, and they have always moved willingly, on one occasion feeling the need to take the pi$$ as well.

Re: Muzzle Brakes
at bisley if you declare brakes they will fall over backwards to decline your booking in my experience, if we have several lanes separation either side I see mo reason not to use brakes, if we are side by side common courtesy demands you dont use a brake .Pete wrote:At Bisley, you're supposed to declare intention to use a muzzle brake when booking a lane.............and the staff are supposed to allocate lanes so that there's a good distance between users and non users.

Re: Muzzle Brakes
One of the clubs I shoot with, brakes are almost obligatory! I think it was pe4king who started it...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Re: Muzzle Brakes
Oddly enough I have been asked about brakes on .22LR rifles a couple of times recently. My view these days is I will make and fit them if asked and I believe it will make a difference when shot off hand.
