Re: MARS / Lever Relaease
I'm still not sure what sort of value I should be expecting of mine. I can't even remember what I paid for it.
its an uzi mag version, so all my mags are now useless. and I have one of the stupidly large thread suppressors, made by thomas lowe defense. looks lovely in carbon fibre, though now also useless.

Re: MARS / Lever Relaease
IIRC my Uzi version (one of the first batch) was £1350. Hopefully they won't bother being that accurate and you'd get the Glock mag price which I think had got to £1600 by the time they came out.
It reads to me like you're need proof of purchase/receipts for any accessories like mags (and there's only the Uzi and 45ACP Glock mags i think anyone will get any kind of compo for). I have zero receipts for any of my accessories for my MARS and all of the parts can be used on other guns anyway so i'm expecting nothing for them.

Just out of curiosity, would the magazines and scope mounts for the MARS be included? I ask as I understood when all this began that they would not, as you could buy a straight pull version of the rifle. However I have since seen that it appears Caledonian Classic Arms is no longer trading (no website, no posts on facebook since 2017?) so they are no longer available. To my mind, that means they are now useless as no other rifle that will take them is commercially available?

I'm fortunate enough to have a man-drawer for paperwork that I thought I'd never have to refer back to, so I have the detailed custom spec list of my .223 LR order and the bill. Mr Gun-Grabber is going to get a fooking hefty bill for my riflebradaz11 wrote:I'm still not sure what sort of value I should be expecting of mine. I can't even remember what I paid for it.

and as soon as the money comes through, the variation is going in to replace the slot plus two more. Might send Sajid Javid a thank you letter and inform him my total gun count has gone up by +2. Dickhead!!

There's a danger in that it could be portrayed they have been 'disguised' to look like toys. The media will spin it however they can to make they come across as nefarious.Daryll wrote:While I'm very sorry for those of you that are losing them, I can't wait for the Plod to proudly show off the "very dangerous" pink guns..

Make sure that they'll never fire again when you hand them in. Back in the day, my SLRs went in with no stocks and bent barrels, still got my compo.

The Devil will be in the details! I only have 2 VZ58 mags, all the rest are AR15's so i know i'll get nothing for those. They might turn around and say there's still some out there so crack on and sell them, or they may be reasonable......James048 wrote:Just out of curiosity, would the magazines and scope mounts for the MARS be included? The idea that anything will come of painting a gun a non-standard colour is frankly preposterous to me. I know of several guns with the wackiest paint jobs out there that will have been seen by TPTB numerous times during renewals and oddly enough nothings come of it.

Re: MARS / Lever Relaease
At the time of the pistol hand-in it was said that the pistols would be test fired and ballistics checked to see if they had been used in any crime. Don't know if that was true but I filled the barrel with axle grease to give the tester a little extra gun cleaning.
Re: MARS / Lever Relaease
200000 pistols ballistically tested and examined? Would take decades. Truth of it is, that once the compensation had been paid out, museums, the military and the police took their desired examples, the rest were chopped and smelted before the Millennium was counted in.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
