Perhaps they want to keep it a low profile. They don't want to be seen to be wasting tax payers money on buying rifles off legal owners, a type of rifle that has never been involved in criminal activity. They should be made to justify this outrage very publicly, but they won't be.

I completely agree... If I was a man of means and I had 10 million in the bank then I would happily spend a million on a legal challenge / judicial review. Go on, please present the evidence... If only every Certificate holder would throw a tenner in the pot!
Add to this the fact that Impact Assessment to Act of Parliament was nothing more than an evolving gun grab. Even if anything was actually ever taken and then used, then it still does not warrant any government seeking to make political capital out of its most law abiding citizens.
The duty of any government is to protect the rights of its most law abiding, not to treat them with contempt. This Act is nothing more than an insult to democracy...and if you have spent all of your life defending democracy (with many sacrifices) then it is a very difficult pill to swallow!
How about the HO keep their money... and I'll keep my possessions!

I'd be happy to chip in a tenner or two if I thought a legal challenge could somehow be arranged (I don't have a spare million)...............but how could every FAC holder even be contacted without actually breaking the law?
It would need massive publicity, which would be discouraged at all levels of media. Can you image the bile that would be aimed at these "gun maniacs"?
The hacks at Chucks favourite newspaper would need smelling salts.............

And so we're back to normal eh Pete

Pete'as hacks would be wanting every gun banned, including pictures of them and sticks that could be held as guns...and they'd cry till they got their way!
Been reading through this thread, so you cannot own a Samurai Sword - what a crock of keech the UK has become. As usual the mass punishment of the law abiding goes unchallenged by all these wassocks who bleat about human rights and reparations for stuff that happened 300 years ago

SO what about all those big kebab slicing knives then - just as lethal as any sword!
The UK has lost the plot completely.
Political Correctness is the language of lies, written by the corrupt , spoken by the inept!

Mine went off on Friday but I wasn't allowed to claim for my ammunition as it is factory ammo/milsurp and my FEO said you could only claim for handloads adapted to your rifle. They took my rifle, 5 magazines, scope mount, red dot, 2 x stocks and a buffer tube and like you, I got a response from the Home Office a day later. The cheque is in the post and it was painless and they didn't question anything for me either.Cj10 wrote:Section G - A18. Which section did you claim in for your ammo,I don't have any ammo left but have a full box of 9mm 124gr GM hard casts that are of no use to me now.
If you have brass and primers available I’m sure you’ll remember you actually handloaded all your remaining consumables up to your hold limit some time ago.
It’s fair to say the Home Office doesn’t appear so far to be querying anything related to LR/ MARS rifle claims. There is even a suggestion they may be open to claims for reloading equipment in certain circumstances.

Two weeks tomorrow since mine was collected haven't heard anything as yet.
Re: Just surrendered my 'weapons'.....
That is unusual, based on my timeline and others quoted on the LR&MARSs owners private Facebook group.mr smith wrote: Two weeks tomorrow since mine was collected haven't heard anything as yet.
Did the police send you an unique reference number after collection? If so that means your claim has been recorded on the Home Office system for approval. To chase up, email OWACompensationCaseworkTeam@homeoffice.gov.uk quoting your reference number and ask what the status of your claim is. The team responds really quickly.
If the police haven’t given you a HOme Office unique reference number yet it might be worth chasing up with the officer who collected it from you to make sure it has been correctly recorded on the system.

I can't help thinking that up and down the country there are people feverously working away knocking out Zombie Knives by the dozen.

Re: Just surrendered my 'weapons'.....
i had more issues with my knives than I did the gun. they contested both knife prices, one by 1p, the other was about £9. £156 instead of £165. I can live with that. the initial desk officer dealing with me treated the knife as it might jump up and kill her at any moment. then was so preoccupied by the whole 'proving ownership ' part of the paperwork. She couldn't get her head around that if I sign the sheet, it doesn't matter, I'm stating im legal owner. kept going round in circles, then one of the others took over and it went so much more smoothly.
gun went through and everything was accepted. didn't hear from HO until monday, but it was surrendered fri afternoon, so not too bad. Just waiting on my cheque now.
and as I say, all for gun was accepted, even though the licensing manager who dealt with the claim kept telling me I needed reciepts, not print outs, HO were fine with it.
