1000 yard scope recommendations
Hi All
I'm looking to buy a scope for a club gun (.308). We would like it go from from 300 yards to 1000 yards, have 1/4 MOA clicks and magnification ranging from about 15 to 30 times.
As it's a club gun we're not looking to spend too much - about £300 to £600.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

For that price range (buying new) you are into Chinese optics. You can pay £4-500 for an 8-32 scope from some Chinese brands who spend a lot on advertising or you can spend an honest £150 and buy one of Fox Firearms chinese scopes.
They come in various magnification ranges but stick with the 8-32. There is also a choice of useful reticles. Quite a few of us have these as 'back up' scopes and they are 'shootable'.
Alternatively, you might get an 8-32 Sightron secondhand for £600
However, you may struggle to cover 300 - 1000 yds without a tapered rail (a 20 MOA will be fine). I think the Fox scope has a total of 75 MOA but of course you will lose half of this when you mount and zero it. Depending on barrel-length and load you will need c. 36 to 40 MOA to cover the 300 - 1000 yd range.

Re: 1000 yard scope recommendations
^^^^ THIS
Either second-hand Sightron or a Fox Firearms scope (I have both).
Before my new scope arrived for my AI I purchased a Fox firearms scope (8-32x56) and shot out to 900 yards. In fact there is someone who shoots at Diggle who uses and old Remington .308 with a Fox's scope and on a good day has out shot much more expensive rifle and scope combinations.
@The Gun Pimp I cannot find the article on the Target Shooter website when you did the comparison of the scopes (I had the Fox's scope on my Ai), which would be worth linking.

Hi
Thanks for your very helpful replies.
When you say a Fox scoped you mean Fox Firearm at Diggle? I can't seem to get to his website at the moment.
Thanks

Re: 1000 yard scope recommendations
I've used the mentioned above Fox scope at 1000 yards and it performed admirably. Was it as clear as a S&B or March? Nope. But then again it cost less than 10 times the price.
Perfectly serviceable for a club rifle.
