Re: Guntrader leak
Has anybody suffered an actual loss as a result of this hack yet?

You will find that yes they can - if they "sell or transfer" the business.
Take energy companies at present - they are failing, several every week. The customers and all their details are then being transferred from ABC Energy to XYZ Energy without and possibility for a customer to say no. How many ICO complaints have been upheld on any of those? Probably none.

Er, property broken in to, money, identity, guns, or anything else stolen as a sole consequence of the data theft from Gunstar...?
And you'll find that if you've ever bought anything online, all that stuff you filled in on the order form is out there somewhere......consumer data is a tradable commodity in these digital times....

Re: Guntrader leak
At least one address that was leaked was targetted: https://www.lincolnshirelive.co.uk/news ... ad-5854533
And the worry for those of us whose addresses we're in there is that we may be next. It's not a matter of "compo culture", if your name and address wasn't leaked it's easy to sneer and be all high and mighty. However, it's a genuine worry for many of us that we'll come home someday to find our houses ransacked or families attacked.
GT shouldn't have been hacked - that was criminal. But their reaction in trying to downplay the issue and blame those seeking redress is pretty unpalatable.

Re: Guntrader leak
There was no mention at all in that article that the burglary was a result of the GT hack…
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

The only thing I've lost is peace of mind at this point in time, are you actually waiting for someone to be bungled and have their guns stolen before you come to the conclusion that GT f****d up and should be held accountable?Pete wrote: ↑Sun Oct 31, 2021 6:54 pm Er, property broken in to, money, identity, guns, or anything else stolen as a sole consequence of the data theft from Gunstar...?

What about BA? Go away on holiday and come back to find your house ransacked becasue dates were in te data were stolen ... Has anyone managed to sue BA for that? Not as far as I know.
Actual losses fine, but not just on the off chance.
