In addition, obtain and understand terms and conditions; consider the implications of allowing a syndicate leader to be a FAC mentor; make sure ‘coaches’ are suitably qualified; consider the quality of deer management, the construction & execution of a shooting plan and safety; determine if the land is over-shot.

Hood Bullseye wellies (the last pair gave up after 18 years of abuse) and Meindl Borneo Pros for the tough going stuff.

My 1985 Dunlop Suretred with steel toecaps are still going strong but the steel insole makes them uncomfortable for too much walking!
I have a two year old pair of Aigle - right shape for my feet, lined to keep me warm on cold days and very comfortable,
As for MuckBoots, we use the slip on clog type shoes in the garden. They are excellent value for money.

This is a difficult one to get advice on, everyone will find that their needs are different,
I have bought Hi Tech Magnums since they were launched on the market many years back, often I have said that I will not buy another pair, then I see that they update or solve the issue that I had with them and buy another pair. As I expect them to last no more than 18 months, I don't mind spending £60 as long as they do their job.
I tried a pair of Bates, similar to the Hi Techs but found that they took a lot longer to wear in and they smell strange when they get hot? They are really light and I will wear them when running around.
I have had two pairs of Alt bergs. The first pair I loved, so much so that when they came ready for binning, I ordered a new pair but kept the old pair and had them re soled by Alt berg. A good service and I still use those boots mainly on range days but the upper leather is starting to crack.
The second pair of Alt bergs I received I have never been able to get on with. At first glance they are the same boots as my first pair but there are subtle differences. The sole is much harder and I find that in the winter my feet sweat so much that I actually end up with freezing feet as the boots are not breathing. Last year I ended putting on a pair of Hi Techs which although not suppose to be suitable for winter wear, were actually warmer.
Clearly if I was going off road in poor conditions I would not wear Hi Techs, but I do have to admire there staying power.
We currently get issued with Haix boots. These took ages to wear in but are proving a good solid boot. I fear though that come the winter my feet will be sweating/freezing again - should we get a winter!
In a previous life I lived in "Mucker's" good to see that they are still going strong, bet they are not £26 a pair any more - which at the, time was a weeks wages on the YTS!

For the shorter boots they are under £40 and full length start at just over £50 so not too expensive.Dangermouse wrote:

Altberg Field and Fell in both black and brown for work and shooting. Danner Recons for work as well....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

My copper nephew uses Danner too...not steel toe caps??? From memory, he said socks will not last in them.

I remember some of the guys wore Danners in Iraq. They barely lasted half the deployment before needing replacement.
