A good show i thought.
Brought 2 kg of TR140 @ £50 per kg,
A new set of Redding dies @ £38 for my K98
And an 11th hour haggle got me a Ridgeline Monsoon II smock for £105 plus they threw in a Ridgeline/Sierra cotton shirt for free :shakeshout:

Bittersweet moment arrived when I got to work this morning and got a letter from Parcelforce Worldwide saying that I owe them £33.45 in Import VAT and Clearance fees for a scope mount that I ordered in the States-blasted mount only cost £112 in the first place ****

At last, we do have a UK Shooting Show!

Year one was a bit disappointing but with your support, it has grown into a very good show in three years and it will continue to grow - with the move to a bigger and better venue next year.

Some say "It was rubbish - didn't buy anything." But at least you can buy! The Shot Show and IWA for example are trade only - no selling! Plus - how do you expect traders to sell cheap? They pay for a stand, hire a van, fuel, two nights hotel accommodation etc. How many stand holders failed to cover their expenses?

And look at the guys who lay out the same money just to put on a club stand - with no possible return - except a couple of new members maybe.

For me - it's all about meeting folk who I only maybe see occasionally - Ovenpaa, Series 20, the Viking, Dangermouse, Spud etc.

Also it's good to have a lot of vendors under one roof - I was after a warm shooting coat, visited about a dozen stands, found one but at £300 it was just a bit to pricey - but I may regret it!

My 'scoop' was the Osprey Rifles new bi-pod! Worth going just to see that - if you shoot off a bi-pod that is.

Guys - what exactly do you want from a show? Tell us please and we can feed that back to the organiser.

Cheers

Vince,

We want verything at half price, free beer, free samples - the usual.

After all, dealers are rich people aren't they?

A bit like publishers....

;)

Shouldn't comment as I didn't go but I plan to be at the next one.

I did get some cheap tumbling media, and my son got to look at some air rifles and ask a few questions.
I do hope that when at Stoneleigh, the entrance wont be so blocked with food stands.
It has obviously outgrown the site.
It is a measure of its success that it has grown so fast. Very difficult to see some stands in the morning due to the crowds .
I can see this show affecting some of the early season Game Fairs, possibly?

It did get crowded at certain times but that's because most visitors come in at the same end of the Show. At 9.00am it was packed in front of our stand, then it went a bit quieter then dwindled off at 2.00pm - a good time to visit.

I only managed a quick sprint round but what amazed me was the number of great custom rifles on offer - almost anything was available - if you had your money and an FAC slot. Bags of great tactical rifles, some nice F Class and benchrest stuff plus where else could you see - and test - March scopes. Gary had scopes set up and trained on targets at the other end of the hall - you could really appreciate the March optics. There were loads of shotguns and hunting rifles - I just don't see what more anyone could expect.

Cheers
