Rem700 Bolt release

#1 Post by ovenpaa »

Can anyone tell me how the Rem700 bolt release works please, I assume it is the lever right hand side of the action, does it engage into a notch on the bolt or something else?

Cheers

To slide the bolt out?

I had trouble finding it...

The bolt release is infront of the trigger, push the little square button up towards the action as you slide the bolt out...

Do you know where it engages on the bolt itself?

It is witchcraft!

Alternatively, if you don't believe in such things, have a look at this video - all the parts are on it and hopefully you will be able to see what you are looking for,

I have looked at a couple of other videos as well now, I can see where the bolt release is operated from and what it does but not where it engages on the bolt....

The bolt release engages on the left hand (opposite to bot handle on RH action) bolt lug. (rear of the lug)

Basically just a "stop" which prevents the bolt being drawn out of the action.

Pushing the mech at the base of the trigger tips the lever stop and allows the bolt to be withdrawn.

If you want pics posting, I have a stripped action here ive just blueprinted, which will show the mechansim...

It's magic......accept it! ;)
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!
