Edit,

Truthfully folks, I hope it isn't as bad as currently, wind bending the trees,
I hope it IS. Them's MY conditions.

Weather like this turns our sport into a farce
No it doesn't! More of a challenge, yes; but not a farce.

How??

Only if you let it. If, on the other hand, you go out thinking "GREAT! Everyone else is going to hate this :) ...

I would not get my gun out of the bag in this weather.

So I sincerely hope that it is better tomorrow and Sunday and wish you all the best of luck.

I've just shot the 800yds of the mini palma with a proper gun, Target Rifle, and got a 75.10 using RG. It was damp. This afternoon looks like it will be very wet. Wheres my wet suit?

Just done 900 and 1000 on Stickledown. At 900 yds had 4 misses and retired to the zero range. The first 5 shots went in the same hole on the 900 yd mark. Came up 7 minutes and put the next 4 shots through the same hole for the 1000 yd setting. Returned to the 1000 yd range and wandered around the target and finished 5-v-5. Got very wet and had a great day!
If you need to ask - I cant explain
Good luck tomorrow, Guys

It was hard.

Me:
Practice, shot 50.6 at 800
Competition: 800x 73.6, 900x 74.2, 1000x 63.2 total 210. 10

As ever, its all decided at the longest range.

The Mini-Palma was won by North London Rifle Club scoring 1690 ex 1800.

As a guide, the winning score in the World Long-range Team Championships for the Palma Trophy is usually a bit under 200 points off. That equates to a score on this reduced Palma course and team of about 1750, or an individual score in this match of 216 or better. The top individual score today was Lindsay Peden on 217. There were 2 scores of 216.

Maybe the GB Palma team (World Champions) are actually quite good!

Well done the North; 5 wins from 5, continuing an unbroken run since the competition started.

They undoubtedly are, but comparing team scores under such extreme conditions is hardly meaningful. Last year the 'Mini' was won with 1730, so if the world champs score 1750 I'd say that's blooming good for a club side!

Of to Bisley now for a club shoot!!

It's not looking very hopeful outside, kept me awake most of the night with this wind but we'll see what happens!

Any tips for keeping at rifle and scope a little dry on the firing point???
