It is not necessary to have both threads the same. I have a wildcat moderator that I use on both my .308 and .222 rifles. The one rifle is threaded 1/2" unf the other 14m1. I simplly use a different thread adapter and bush for each and because the moderator is strippable it's no problem to change the configuration around.

Appreciate your comments guys; very helpful. Any preference regarding balance to the weapon and such like for different makes of mod? And also, is the threading of the barrels a job any gunsmith can do, or do I need to seek out a really top notch specialist? I have heard about if the thread is not finished off properly the mod can and does work loose. Is this true, or another shooters' myth story??

It's true. Unfortunately there are many that will cut threads on barrels but few that do it properly.

Sorry elmer I don't personally know of any good gunsmiths in your neck of the woods.

Oh okay, that's good information and a good design feature. Sod's Law is that the ability to multitask one mod won't end up costing significantly less than the price of a whole family of mods though :cool2:
