Re: First rifle 7.62/.308
Hi Shugie
checked my rosters last night and unfortunately I cannot make the 23 june as I am at work. Looks like I will not be available till well after the Imperial Mtg. I am shooting with Ovenpaa/Christel and Hauptman on the morning of 14 June. Can you make that?
Just measured my Quadloc for length. It is 49''long so my Paramount that has a 30'' barrel will be the same length.

I'd love to join you all on the 14th, but work, as so often, will get in the way. I'm sure I'll manage it another time though.Steve E wrote:Hi Shugie

Sounds like a Paramount would just fit into my cabinet then. Thanks for checking.

Hi Hugh,
Took photos of those two rifles from the NRA for sale board on my way home tonight. Don't really want to put them up on the internet as they have phone numbers on them so pm me your email & I'll send them over.

Re: First rifle 7.62/.308
One of the people in my club has a Steyr Pro Hunter with a 26" heavy barrel up for sale. Price seems reasonable, and it was owned by another club member from new. Too heavy for hunting apparently.
Anyone care to pass opinion on this gun?

I like the Steyr however you will find the barrel a bit on the skinny side which means it will warm up and string vertically.shugie wrote:One of the people in my club has a Steyr Pro Hunter with a 26" heavy barrel up for sale. Not a fan of the steyr stuff myself, but I've never quite worked out why...
What is the twist on your .223?

I think the heavy barrel version is 22mm dia, is that too skinny for ten shots at McQueens? The Savage BVSS, which is another possible being sold secondhand, is 25mm.ovenpaa wrote:I like the Steyr however you will find the barrel a bit on the skinny side which means it will warm up and string vertically.shugie wrote:One of the people in my club has a Steyr Pro Hunter with a 26" heavy barrel up for sale. As for my Tikka Lite, the twist is 11".

Re: First rifle 7.62/.308
The Savage BVSS, has that got the Accutrigger?
Re: First rifle 7.62/.308
We are talking a Tikka in 223 aren't we, I didn't misread that? If so it's either 8 or 12.shugie wrote:I think the heavy barrel version is 22mm dia, is that too skinny for ten shots at McQueens? Of course, I was having a 308 moment there, it is 223, but I don't know whether it is 8 or 12, is there some marking on it somewhere?Mr_Logic wrote: We are talking a Tikka in 223 aren't we, I didn't misread that? If so it's either 8 or 12.
I'm not sure about the Savage being new enough to have the Accutrigger, it dates from 2007.
