Opinion Required

#1 Post by Chuck »

Got a chance of this wee toy, not much up on custom rifles, usually just buy them ready made. so opinoins appreciated guys and gals...what do you think, no photos yet

I know and trust the source / builder, this was seemingly built for a magazine article...

it's a 7.62x51 (.308 Win), Rifle is a custom rig had built for an article, now finished. Barrel is lapped 26-inch heavy, blueprinted Remington M700 BDL action, Timney adjustable trigger, H-S Precision heavy stock (Sand Brown color) with aluminum bedding blocks, all steel matte finished, scope is Leupold 6 1/2 - 20x40mm EFR with 1-MOA dot and crosshair reticle, lens shade and Butler Creek flipup lens caps. Harris bipod. 500 rds. custom-loaded ammo. Load is Barnes 130-grain Tipped Triple Shock bullet, Remington cases and primers, 47-grains Hodgdon H4895. Muzzle velocity 3150 fps. Accuracy sub-1/2 MOA. Total price: around £1800.00

I don't reload so that's not imortant, sounds like a nice tactical rifle...is it?

What's your gut feeling? Have you handled and/or fired it? Which magazine was the article in?

Sounds a good start Chuck. I'd want to know what make of barrel is on it and the full spec of the blueprint job. Action, barrel(?), trigger, stock are all spot on. Single shot or repeater?
