Cool... it's not a lever release, it's a trigger release. I'm amazed this ever got the green light! Pull the trigger once to fire and again to release the bolt catch. That's very close to semi-auto IMO.

VZ58 (very reliable and well built!) with a "trigger release" (press once to fire, bolt holds open, press again to close bolt and once again to fire) should be available in .222, .223 & 7.62x39 with other calibres to follow including (hopefully) 300aac

Unfortunately, the innovation, development and potential of such a Sect 1 firearm in the UK, is tempered with the appalling customer service and general surliness of Fat Bob. I imagine that I will one day own another straight pull AR, but it most certainly won't have SGC on the lower receiver. And as for the "self eject", lever release 9mm and .223, they hold no interest.

I don't trust SGC to make a decent quality, serviceable rifle, nor do I trust the Home Office not to take umbrage at these and plop them into Sect 5....

Simon, how did Bob let it come to this? It seems commercial suicide to treat people so badly, quite extraordinary considering the relatively small UK shooting community (and AR15 enthusiasts being a small number of a small number).

The 5.56mm gas piston, lever release, seems like a really good idea.....born in the wrong company perhaps.

I am all for these new developments but as voiced by others a double pull trigger does not sit comfortably with me.

I personally don't see a problem with the double trigger pull, it's a great way to close the bolt, as you don't have to move your hand, but I appreciate the concern. I hope this gets all the approval it needs.

So how about maybe a thumb operated bolt release somehow??? Like where the mag release would be on a handgun or a longer paddle arrangement reaching back - rather than the current "button" version?? just a thought: if you could trip the bolt release with the thumb of the firing hand???
