But we are talking about non vissable bacteria, never tried this with anything other than a clean egg.
Anyway, never did me any har

When fishing I have used HotHands. I have even put a pair on top of my feet in my waders.
They need Oxygen every now and again but they do last the suggested 10 hours.

The thought of re-usable ones appeals however they all seem to have a very short heat cycle before cooling down, ideally I am after 4-5 hours minimum so unless someone cam point me in the direction of a re-usable that lasts longer I will order some disposable ones.

the Zippo types claim to last up to 12hrs, to be honest I have yet to stuff enough fuel into one for that, maybe something to try when I get bored

Zippo ones are great however I prefer something that is flexible.

Tip:
Don't fanny around with handwarmers in your hand. Get two loose-fitting towling wristbands ('sweatbands') and make an opening in them to fully accommodate the warmer. Apply to your wrists and the heat will encourage bloodflow to your hands/arms a lot better. As a consequence, heat will return to your core with greater efficiency too.
