Even they don't have a clue and seem to forget recent terror attacks were done with full autos that none of them had a license for, what the hell do people pay money to them for?

This is an attempt to prevent access to the sort of weapons used in recent terror attacks.
Oh like fully automatic Russian style weapons from Balkan countries - firearms that are usually not available to the law abiding and would not be around if the EU got its act together, listened and actually acted on intel and targetted criminals for a change!.
Shotguns should be OK then as they are never used!

Although technically we will remain EU members for some time to come, I doubt that Parliament will have much enthusiasm for putting EU directives into force.

Its almost unbelievable that after all the effort shooters and their reps have gone to, to explain that the appearance of firearms has nothing to do with their lethality, the ease at which magazines can be manufactured, the fact they are not registered now making them impossible to trace and that the speed they can be reloaded makes capacity restrictions pointless, AND them seemingly realising this and dropping it from previous incarnations of this cluster-f**k, that they've boshed it in at the 11th hour?!
That said there couldn't be more going on in the UK which requires more immediate political focus and this whole thing could end up shelved and never become legislation over here

Blackstuff - it should be shelved! ALL lof it, it's a nonsense to appease the snowflakes. Not one iota of those recommendations will do anything to stop a terrorist.

12.C
Transitional measures (subject to final placing in the body of the Directive):
x. Member States may decide to confirm authorisations for firearms classified in category
A.6 or A.7 and legally acquired and registered before [date of entry into force of amending
Directive], and to renew them for the legal owner at that date, subject to the other
conditions of this Directive, and may also allow such firearms to be inherited or acquired
by persons authorised by Member States according to this Directive under Article 6.
y. Member States may authorise target shooters to acquire and possess semi-automatic
firearms classified in categories A.6 or A.7, subject to the following conditions:
a) the target shooter participates in shooting competitions organised by an official
shooting sport organisation recognised by a Member State or by an internationally
established and officially recognised shooting sport federation; and
b) the target shooter is a member of a recognised shooting club, regularly practises target
shooting and has been doing so for at least twelve months.
Target shooters authorised to acquire and possess firearms in categories A.6 or A.7 shall be
entitled to have such firearms listed in a European firearms pass pursuant to Article 12(2).
Going on that if you are a target shooter participating in competition and a member of an appropriate association Semi Auto .22LR military style rifles are safe as long as the member state allows it.
What is described above almost exactly matches the current UK situation with ownership of a Semi Auto RF for competition. The amendment is so pest control shooters don't get caught up in a ban. If you are a member of a UK NRA affiliated club shooting Military style .22lr Semi Auto it would be no change.
Academic now due to imminent Article 50 invocation.

Makes me wonder where the average club shooter with no aspirations to do more than shoot an occasional card for pleasure with a S/A rimfire will stand in all this. my hope is they will be allowed to continue as normal.
Article 50, have I missed something on the news, last I read the start of next year has been suggested.

I know clubs have differing views on this, my last one didn't put much effort into competitions whilst my current one has them regularly.
Then again they are not onerous in my current club. On a day when there is a competition a casual paper puncher can enter and then put "Competition" for the reason in the club record book.
