Hang on a minute.... the police can't say that the doctor hasn't responded if the applicant hasn't asked the doctor to write a report.

As I understand it the applicant won't be asking the doctor for a report
normally it will be the police requesting a report.

Ar! So this is only for situations where the applicant says no to the question about health and stuff.

The Police initially ask the GP to respond to a series of Yes/No questions and to put a medical marker in the applicants medical records -
This is what BASC says not to pay a fee for.
As a result of this the BMA are now advising GPs to return the letter to the police without delay explaining they are unable to undertake the work due to a lack of funding or for a conscientious objection to gun ownership.
BASC guidance on this aspect states,
"Should the doctor refuse to participate without money, the guidance states that after 21 days, if there is no response from the doctor, it will be assumed that there are no medical issues".
However, if this letter is returned with highlighted and relevant medical issues or if the applicant declares any relevant medical issues on his/her application then and only then does a fee becomes justified
if the Police ask for a detailed report from the GP -
This is what BASC advises payment for.

So BASC are supporting additional costs for FAC holders and new applicants if the police require it.
Shafted once again by the people that are supposed to representing us and fighting our corner.
I wonder who in BASC and its ilk decides on the policy to follow as regards dealing with this creeping anti legislation and implementation?
Sure as hell none of them have asked the membership what their view on it should be, member lead organisations my arse.
