20mm Anti-Tank Cannon, Would this be UK legal?

Re: 20mm Anti-Tank Cannon, Would this be UK legal?
The M39 I listed had an estimated selling price of Eu2000 - though I've not got the final sales "prices realised" list yet, so it may have been more or less...
It's been known for the same auction to have an M1910 Maxim not sell for several consecutive years (the same gun) - last time it was listed THAT was about Eu400, though being full auto I decided not to bid on it.

Eu2000 would probably be less than the price of a custom made gunsafe to hold the monster.

A. It comes apart (a little)strangesam wrote:Eu2000 would probably be less than the price of a custom made gunsafe to hold the monster.
B. Who said ALL the gun needs to be in a safe? I know of people with permission to own artillery pieces, all that is (CAN BE) locked away securely in a safe is the breech = so that is ALL that is locked in a safe
C. I know some good welders

True, but it would look so good next to the CZ455 and rimfire magic. A grand sight upon opening the door.saddler wrote: B. Who said ALL the gun needs to be in a safe?

The cost of the rifle isn't the problem, it's the cost of the ammo that's the issue. I don't know if it's correct, but someone mentioned £100/round a few weeks ago. That's expensive...

I spoke to a guy in the US who shoots a Lahti and he was machining his own bullets out of bar stock.
He was using some milsurp powder - which would be the other problem over here.
The blast - even stood 15 feet behind it was something else!

Was that for UK sourced rounds, or an approximation in £sterling of cost abroad somewhere?HALODIN wrote:The cost of the rifle isn't the problem, it's the cost of the ammo that's the issue. I don't know if it's correct, but someone mentioned £100/round a few weeks ago. That's expensive...
Will have a better idea of the cost of 20mm ammo from Finland, later this week, when the auction prices realised list is released.

I assumed it was for UK sourced ammo. I'm all ears if you can verify the cost. Whilst you'd struggle to wipe the smile off your face, £1,000 for 10 shots is a little pricey in my book.

Aye - that's even higher than Dromia's drinks bill for a relaxing evening in the Artists Rifles bar...HALODIN wrote:I assumed it was for UK sourced ammo. I'm all ears if you can verify the cost.
