If you renew by post you send a photocopy of the certificate, not the original.

Therefore why can't you attach a scanned copy to your email if renewing electronically?

How would you pay the fee what about the signed photo graphs and I think you send them the original certificate not a photo copy.

I would be quite happy to do it on line and send them a signed copy of the application form along with a scanned copy of my certificate and do a bank transfer for the fee and attach photos but how many other people would be able to do it.

Nope, you don't send them the original (at least, not in Hants)............how would you buy ammo or primers while you were waiting?

You may be correct I had never thought about it. I don't buy ammo I reload and I have thousands and thousands and thousands of primers.

Edit: It seems you are correct. This is an extract from my local forces website.

Submission of application
20. Unless otherwise advised by the police, you should post or take the completed form together with the
fee and photographs to the police firearms licensing department. In the case of an application for
renewal or variation, the current certificate or a signed and dated recent copy
should be included with
the application.

.

I read that on the application form and if I'm honest I
never understood it like that.

Thank you for the clarification.

You don't.

Cumbria FLO recommends buying sufficient ammunition to cover the renewal period.
That in itself is almost amusing, as they do their best to restrict people to minimal amounts of ammunition & their current Grant/renewal time is stated to be 140 days...

I recently renewed my SGC and although I sent it by post I didn't include my current/old certificate and nothing was said. Quite fortunate as it turns out as my SGC was renewed in record time and my new one doesn't start until the end of February!! I will snip the corner of my old SGC once its expired (like a passport) or completely destroy it. :good:

My FLD doesn't have a means of taking electronic payment (that I could find anyway) which was the reason I submitted in paper form
