If you want .22 ammunition for plinking Frances Lovell will be ok, but if you want to shoot competition or ammunition for shooting vermin they are not a shop I would recommend. They are willing to order ammunition if you ask but would expect a minimum order of 1,000 rounds.
Bicester Pistol and Rifle club have a large stock of different .22 ammunition, give Frank Sade a phone call and ask him if he will sell you a few boxes of different makes etc. His contact details are on the club website and he is very helpfull.

I just realized I hadn't updated this, in the end I popped in to D B Guns in Thame as they are only about 15 to 20 minutes away.
They had 3 different brands of sub sonic 22lr, all hollow point, but it was enough to try out the RimFire Magic 10/22 which seemed to love all 3, and some Eley club that another member had.
