The Met police are usually very good and fair, or at least I have always found that. From teh letter you should be able to get the application in but it will wait until they can visit. Do you have a referee available as that will be the stumbling block?
Niece is out on a road off SE Mt Si Road a way past the Mt Si trail head and a two minute walk from Middle Fork so I can fish for trout there. I found it a nice town, nice friendly people.
