Great news. I can now get my ARs converted to lever release.

Give me a single, valid reason why I can't...

It'll cost you a fortune? ;-)

(I assume any new action would have to be HO approved, or you'd have to use SGC's stuff?)

That's what I don't get. If this VZ.58's action is HO approved then why the hell isn't a lever release system for centre fire?

wtfwtf

I thought LR had only been 'authorised' on 9mm?

Well, the pessimist in me still assumes installing a gas system in my AR platforms then a LR system is forbidden.

Do standard USGI 5.56 mags fit the .223 LR's?

Where've you been for the past 18 months? Now in 9mm, 45ACP and .223.

You wouldn't be able to do the 'conversion' (if it was even possible) in the order you describe because in the interim period between you putting the gas system in the upper, and you getting the LR lower you'd potentially have a S5 semi-auto full-bore rifle. However, i'd imagine that SGC do something to the upper so that it can't just be transplanted onto a normal lower and whether they'd be willing to share that info with you so you could do your own is probably unlikely. It is also probably patented and if he was willing to share you'd be paying for the priviledge.

In short, computer says no.

I'd be getting them to do the conversion so it wouldn't be in my possession whilst a Sect 5 - so that's a moot point.

So, if it's technically feasable - and legal on ticket - then it's getting done. I'll drop him an email.
