If it is the same system as the 9mm version which is section 1, and the ONLY difference is calibre, why would it be section 5 ?

Conversion ? Surely not possible ?

It cannot be compatible with your lower or else it is easily convertible. So, you would need a new lower, new upper - might as well just get a new rifle ?

It does have a gas operating system and locking lug but other than that the principal is exactly the same as the 9mm and the .45acp lever release.
And his customer service lacks alot and i do own a sgc gun

I think that perhaps Bob thought he has what the public want so will buy fron him regardless. And to a certain degree, that was true. I know that after I had bought two of his rifles, he really pi$$ed me off, but I still bought a third as no one really offered what he was. There were other straight pull AR's around at the time, but nothing like there are today. Likewise, he's come up with this "self eject" system. There's nothing else like it, so people will buy...... at the moment that is!

As an aside, it was funny to see Bob at the Phoenix a couple of years or so ago, tucked in the corner of the Pavillion, with two rifles and a fistful of flyers on display. He would hardly acknowledge people, never mind discuss the builds with them. He sat seething..... Just 15 feet away from him was Mark Bradleys stall, creaking with the amount of rifles and kit he'd brought to show and sell!! And if anyone knows Mark, they'll confirm that he'll talk all day long with past, current and future customers and friends!

I remember being at the Phoenix one year and all SGC had on the table was a single bag of once fired .223 RP for fifteen quid. I took it on the spot whist Bob just grunted.

All well and good until you move on to a semi shotgun or .22lr, and it goes bang instead of closing the bolt.Then there will be tears and much wailing and knashing of teeth, with someone pointing at the VZ shouting, "it made me do it".
But of course, that will never happen because we are all better than that...

I have only had one dealing with Bob and that was to buy a timney drop in trigger for my Spikes (great product by the way).
He just sort of grunted and sighed on the phone when I asked him about the trigger unit and his AR builds....I visualized him rolling his eyes!

Must have been wasting his precious time I guess!

On the other hand, I bought two magazines from Mark Bradley....He just sent them with a note to drop a cheque in the post, top bloke!

Well in fairness we should be! Plus as long as you're following basic firearms safety rules it should be pointing in a safe direction anyway

He must have a really long bench cause my mates rifle has apparently been on it every time he rings for six months. It took him six weeks thread and fit a muzzle brake to my rifle

I would concur, as long as the Company lawyers pour over the firearms act first (and giving the huge investment in such an engineering undertaking, they certainly would) there should be no problem.

Providing it isn't capable of more than one shot without human interaction and it is manufactured in such a way as major component parts from a Sec5 weapon can't be made to fit, then it is Sec1, by the definitions set in the Firearms act.

The powers that be can't just ban it because they don't like it, they would need to prove its capable of conversion to semi/automatic fire, or lobby the Government of the day to change the firearms act and alter the Sec 5 amendments.

They might of course do just that!!
