Have a look at the IOR Tactical. It is over your price a touch but a cracking scope.

I've been completely through the Optics Warehouse site multiple times... >.<

If I could, I'd go finance and just buy the scope I want (S&B PMII 5-25) However because my mortgage application is in place, i don't want to mess it up by applying for finance or a great 27 month 0% interest Sainsburys credit card!!

I think for the short term, I'm going to look at something like a 10x bushnell elite tactical at the silly price of £220 to get me out shooting the rifle, that can then become a backup sight for any of my rifles and after we've got a house and moved in I'll re-evaluate putting the scope I really want on the rifle...

Thanks for all the input everyone. Certainly been a lot to think about with it all and some good suggestions for scopes. Just a bit of a tricky position to be in with trying to buy a house at the minute. I can't justify spending a grand on scope and mounts when it's not really what I want. I'll just end up losing more money in the long run :(

A very sensible approach buddy.

Nothing wrong with the Bushnell 10x40 Mil-Dot - one lives on my LTR 6.8SPC

VERY under-rated optics

TattooedGun wrote:Well, me and the girlfriend have been trying to buy a house for the past few months, and last week it all fell through.

As you can imagine, much disappointment and bewilderment.

Everyone kept telling me how "everything happens for a reason".... Needless to say an AI AT in .308 came up the same week for a good price, and without having to fork out the deposit in the next week or so, I thought why not blow it!

The girlfriend now loves me, but I went down to Somerset to pick up the new rifle :)

I know, not the best quality photo in the world!

Anyways, I'm now toiling over what to stick on top of it. When i went to pick it up the guy had a 5x25 S&B on top and it was absolutely stunning, however he wouldn't part with it, now I don't really have the cash to buy one I'm thinking I might be able to squirrel away about £1k to be able to shoot it sometime this year. Baring in mind, I need to get mounts too.

What would you go with?

I would like to go mil/mil FFP, which really doesn't leave me with much choice.

Cheap end:
Falcon Optics

Mid:
Vortex PST

Top End of budget:
Bushnell Elite Tactical

I must say I'm really tempted by the Bushnell as I have 2 elites already (1 on rimfire, 1 on rem 700 ~223) and I like the quality.

Have I missed something obvious on what i could get?

Thoughts?

Is this the AI advertised on UKV?

If so, I too have been considering that:), just working out my funds!

I have been looking at secondhand AI's, so that I can convert to 6.5CM. E-mailed a couple of dealers that had AE's mk III's, but just too much money when for not much more you can have an AT was my conclusion.

I already have an AI AT (26" barrel), fantastic piece of kit. I was similar to you, added a 'cheap' scope until I could buy the one I really wanted (S&B PMII 12-50x56 P4fine).

Why don't you just buy a 6.5 CM barrel for your existing .308 AI-AT? It takes 1 allen key and 30 seconds to change the barrel.

Why choose the 6.5CM over the 260 Rem or the 6,5x47 Lapua? I shoot the latter to reasonable distances (Paper at 1200 and Rabbits to 600) with very good results.
