My spelling is fine but my typing is sh!te which sorely tries the spell checker.
I am please that you were able make the connection though. The post is duly corrected in case others lack your formidable intellect.

Dark Skies:
There's too much of this 'I blame myself' self-flagellation going on these days. The police and anti-gunners seize upon it and twist it into 'see! even gun owners acknowledge they are to blame for crime'.
Blame lies with the perpetrators of crime, not the victim, and it's about bloody time the police stopped being political and got on with the job the public tasked them with - fighting crime.

clapclap clapclap clapclap
As for BSAC stickers etc encouraging scrotes...well funny how in the USA having NRA / Glock etc stickers all over your truck has the opposite effect!
Stealing a firearm and using it in a crime should have a horrifically severe penalty on conviction.

Pedantry aside, I agree with you.
Weirdly, and totally off topic,I know a song about that. :)

I blame the police in this instance..
For an ordinary shooter, the practice of locking your bagged gun in the boot whilst you drive to and from the club is acceptable in terms of safe storage.
But when applying for his pest control FAC, the police should have considered the risk of his gun being in his vehicle through the day whilst he went about his business and insisted on a vehicle safe before granting the licence.
It also must be remembered that the victim was stabbed to death, not shot to death and multiple times.

I agree that we should not live in fear, but conversely having BASC stickers on your vehicle is asking for trouble. It is for the same reason that RFD's don't typical drive around in vehicles emblazoned with their business details.... we all need to take precautions because there "are" bad people out there..... as members from several of my shooting clubs have found out when the have been mugged of their guns when unloading guns from their cars.
According to a senior Regional Crime policeman , the police and Border Agency are now so successful at preventing illegal firearms entering the country , criminals are now targetting the shooting community to get firearms.
So are the criminals waiting outside ranges and shooting clubs to follow members home and attack them ?
= it has already happened. A RFD was followed from a North-West club and his car was broken into and guns taken. it is claimed that they also took a laptop with his customers details, which led to people being mugged in their driveways and guns taken
Are the criminals waiting outside gun shops so they can follow shooters home and attack them ?
= already happened several years ago to Ian from Target Sports, Bolton
Are criminals just taking car numbers that are parked outside ranges, clubs and gun shops then getting the car owners details from some bent employee at the DVLA .
= quite possible
Are criminals even getting FAC and SGC holders details from a bent policeman or civilian employee ?
= I am not aware of it happening
Whats next , will the criminals go for a carrier when they collect guns from the Proof House or a big distributor ?
= it could hapen
Sadly the justice system goes after the soft option most times , so the person who had a gun stolen (the victim) gets penalised .
Yet the thief can walk around free , because the police cant or wont get enough evidence to satisfy the CPS .

Ahhh but the difference in America is that if you're messing about with someones vehicle and the owner sees you, then you are at risk of being shot.
Here in the UK we are not allowed to carry any weapons so a thief knows all he needs to do is leg it.

I know two of the people concerned and although they were threatened , there was no actual violence , although one of them was pushed. There was no laptop stolen and the only common factor was they all shot at the same club.

In the past couple of years Policemen and civilian employees from both Manchester and Merseyside Police have been prosecuted for passing information to drug gangs.
