Anti Gun Lobby Wet Dream

It's the Daily Mail so the usual poor standard of journalism prevails. The article confuses a shotgun with a rimfire rifle.

The firearm owner showed a complete disregard for the security of his rifle.

Puts a bit more clarity to why club secretary and chairman nationally got a talking to late last year from various Police forces about security of guns between the range and home.

The sign written van was a bit of a give away to what he possibly had locked up in the vehicle. In that kind of trade I would think professionally fitted lockable secure boxes should be a priority especially if you are going to have the vehicle sign written.

Looking at the pick up in the article there are plenty of companies that offer a solution:

Looking at the actual sawn off rifle the bloke used to kill the woman it surprises me the bullet actually got up to any sort of decent velocity to kill, the bullet must have been virtually poking out of the barrel looking at it.

And the man who got it pinched from his vehical, can you imagine if he ever applied for his FAC again 5mith

Have you ever had an FAC revoked? Errrrrrr yes wtf
And why was it revoked? Errrrrrrrrrr, oh bollox, just forget it! 8-)

From what I remember reading it was actually the stabbing that proved fatal, not the shooting.

All he had to do was keep the bolt in his pocket then even if the gun went missing it couldn't be fired. I'd never dream of leaving my rifle in the car in a shootable condition.

What, have you not heard of "blame the victim"...it's the new way these days... no one ever blames the criminal, oh no that went out of fashion a long time ago!

"The victim is at fault"....for being a victim....As for the Daily Mail kukkuk kukkuk kukkuk ...words fail me (well actually they are just not allowed on here).

Did he ? . We dont know do we ?

The real facts of the theft will be on the police report .

I think Home Office guidance suggests that firearms/shotguns should be out of sight in the boot . An yes it also suggests that whenever possible bolts or forends should be removed .

Is not removing the bolt good reason to revoke a FAC ?

Last week someone had 12 firearms/shotguns stolen . I wonder if his FAC/SGC will be revoked .

At least two of last years gun thefts took place when the owners were outside their house taking the guns from the car to the house , yet the latest police "suggestion" is that either steel locked boxes or high tensile steel cables should be fitted to a car if firearms/shotguns are being transported !

Call me a stuffy old traditionalist but the person who stole the firearm and everyone down the line that handled it and eventually passed it on to Cox's killer are the guilty parties. Unfortunately only decent people, like the guy who had his firearm stolen, are moved to feel guilt, even if it is misplaced.

That's what I read too. The round pierced her hand but not her skull.
