Muzzle brakes are for real men clapclap

But a muzzle brake doesn't help you get a shot off faster, just recover from recoil quicker which isn't an issue when shooting McQueens as you have much longer than 3 seconds between those exposures anyway!

If you don't need a muzzle brake to shoot driven boar ( that's real manly man's men stuff ) then you definitely don't need one to shoot McQueens.

Our McQueens is fast and furious.
Trust me I've shot it hundreds of times.
There is a minority of shooters moaning about muzzle brakes and there is talk of specialist going there and doing some kind of survey and testing which will or could lead to other problems if the HSE get involved and it will probably ruin range shooting all together.our club members mainly use brakes and there is usually a lane kept clear between us and the next lot shooters to avoid annoying the whingers who will sooner or later ruin it for everybody.it that happens than you can give yourselves a big pay on the back

A muzzle brake will stop the rifle jump off target, very important especially during the McQueens.

I've had comments about the noise my No.5 makes under the 'shed roof' on Short Siberia at Bisley.

Probably explains my late fathers hearing damage, given he did a 12 month deployment to Palestine in 46/47 with his beloved No.5 as close companion.

It certainly tests the ear defenders.

So what is the purpose of a muzzle break what is the advantage over a none braked gun. I have a shooting freind who has a .308 with a brake I all ways make a point of shooting at least two lanes away from him. The muzzle blast is painfull.

The blast doesn't bother me at all.when we are doing a cof at 600 or 1000yds you can be in the middle lane of the 3 we have and you get it from both side.the only time I notice the blast is when I am laid beside another watching their cof.still doesn't bother me.a muzzle brake take a lot of the recoil away and you stay on target for the next shot.its a brilliant bit of kit.if you don't like it take up airgun shooting.
