I imagine part of the reason these MARS rifles are so expensive, given than a surplus VZ.58 is 75 Euro, is that they are made specifically for this MARS project and are not recycled or off the shelf receivers. I'm sure they will be popular though so good luck to Caledonian

Perfectly legal if the parts could only be used a semi auto rifle,

There is no difference in law between certain section 5 parts and section 1 parts, however anything that can only be used in a fully automatic firearm is always considered section 5.

Its the way the laws are worded, according to the HO

There was a fair bit of interest in these today at Bisley, even had a group follow him when he went to the zero range with one. Very nice they looked as well. :good:

It's a lot nicer to shoot than I imagined, the trigger pull to release the action is quite heavy wheras to fire its a lovely crisp 2 stage military pull so you know which stage of the cycle you are in. In terms of safety it's very obvious when you have a round in the chamber as it locks back after every shot. The BHO works seperately which stops you loading on an empty chamber hence after a mag change you have to recock the action to allow the bolt to be closed from the trigger pull - very clever.

I'm glad you had a quick edit, sights are there - the rear iron sight is set quite far forward but seemed to be bang on zero.

Lots of smiling faces today. I'm pleased some shooters like the little rifles.
Commercial aspects don't give me nearly the same satisfation that seeing the 'Cheshire Cat' look on a shooters face does!
I'm going to try and get some of the suggestions made included in production bits.
I must say thanks to the guys that took the time to understand and comment.

Interesting list of rifles to convert. I'm gonna give up right now.

clapclap very nice little rifle,Scott almost lost his voice today at Bisley-to much talking...?- I think ,I will stick to my guns and wait for 6.5mm grendel-barrel will be match type and standard VZ58 mags used-bolt stays open after last round,so-in theory, all day shooting and only once cocking... :shakeshout:
