You get an extra hour lie in.

Re: Reminder
At least that's relatively recent, the Liberals still hark back to 1911 and the Tories are profoundly rooted in the 19th century before nasty things like unions came along. The SNP want to relive 1707, and UKIP the glorious age of Empire.SevenSixTwo wrote:If you vote Labour, don't forget to set your clocks back to 1974...
Time for something new and a bit more up to date perhaps, reflecting the fact that many of us have complex opinions on different matters and can use the internet to indicate what sort of government we would like in detail. Not just a vote every five years that may make sod all difference anyway.
Careful now/that sort of thing
Re: Reminder
But then, Shugie, we would end up with a political system closely reflecting the modern TV and radio services.
Lots of minority choices, but in reality, all showing the same s***.
The more choice we have, the less effective it becomes. If a two party coalition is ineffective then how poor will a three or four party coalition be?
Far better to not split a party with disparate minority interests and then lose control. Much better to stay in the tent and p1ss outwards, if you get my drift.
Better to make friends than enemies.

Re: Reminder
Given the record of most, if not all, governments in making pointless unnecessary and often quite stupid laws, somehow ineffective government is not without appeal. Belgium seemed not to vanish off the face of the earth despite having marginally functional coalition governments for years.whoowhoop wrote:But then, Shugie, we would end up with a political system closely reflecting the modern TV and radio services.

I don't think politicians should actually be able to wield much control, let them debate certainly, and let the debates be public.
Careful now/that sort of thing
