Options for 20 MOA of elevation/canted scope mount
Hi all.
Shooting .308 at 1100 yards I just ran out of clicks for elevation and had to holdover using the reticle in my Nightforce scope. I got some rounds onto the centre of the target but it is't ideal. My scope is mounted on what is essentially a picatinny flat top. It's a Steyr SSG 04A1 and the built-in scope mount runs across the whole length. I had to get the highest Warne rings I could find, which were QD, as the objective lens is 56mm. Pic here > http://www.steyr-mannlicher.com/en/spor ... ssg-04-a1/
The scope has 100 MOA in it but my problem is that my 100 yard zero is already at 60MOA so I just ran out of clicks at 1100yards as I say.
Anyways so I guess I'm looking for an AR15 type 20 MOA riser mount/canted flat top riser to stick on top of my Steyr. The problem for me is that these all seem to be aluminium and I'm reluctant to add aluminium onto my 1000 yarder if I can avoid it.
So my questions to the experienced bods are:
A) Is an aluminium 20 MOA riser going to work reliably?
B) Is there a better/UK sourceable solution (that doesn't cost the earth)
Thanks for your help!

Third Eye Tactical - Buy british!
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

Ovenpaa (a user on this board) might be able to knock you something up too
Re: Options for 20 MOA of elevation/canted scope mount
Another vote for the third eye Uni mount! They are exceptional!
Re: Options for 20 MOA of elevation/canted scope mount
To build a 20 minute riser that keeps a very low profile to STANAG 2324 is going to be a nightmare. As much as I hate to say it I would probably just shim the existing bases (As an example, the rings if 125,0mm centre to centre need a 0,73mm shim on the rear) however all of the Warne rings I know split vertically so that is not an option.
The other way is as mentioned, go with something like the 20 minute TET Unimount or the AI one piece as a slightly cheaper option.

A mate of mine had a similar problem with his steyr and a Nightforce (from memory he was using a 32x nsx with about 65 mins of elevation or thereabouts) with him having trouble in getting to 1000yds.......
Third eye tactical mount (in his case with 30moa) - problem solved, looks great and he's over the moon with it!

Ps, I've got 2 AI one piece mounts and they are excellent but don't look as 'tacticool' as the third eye ones (let me know if you want a picture as I've got a high set on my 5.5 x 22 - zero cant but at least you'll get the idea.....)

Great!
Thanks all. Just the info I needed.
I think I'm going to look at the TET with 30 MOA slope and look to sell my Warne Ultra high QD rings to ease wallet ache. I'll update the thread in time so that it has a conclusive ending.

Careful with 30moa rail, you might not be able to zero at 100 yards if that what you do.Ballistix wrote:Great!

Should be ok to zero at 100 with a 100 moa scope if he's zeroing using 60moa already (if my maths works out that is razz )
Worth noting that my mate used the 30 moa mount as that was what he needed with his lesser amount of moa on his scope to start with and the weight of bullet he wanted to use, you should be ok with a 20 moa mount....... (Again if my maths work out  )

Have you considered the Burris Signature rings?
They come with shims up to 20 moa and are a good price,
