Steyr SSG 69 P1

#1 Post by ovenpaa »

This arrived in the post today, a Steyr SSG 69 P1. The date code shows it was built in February 2002 and it came with the original numbered to the rifle Q/R rings, ZFM6x42Z Scope, original sling and Steyr hard case. I have always liked these rifles and this one is in superb condition, I cannot wait to get it down to the range.

I need a bikini type 'scope cover to replace the Butler Creeks and it will be as complete as I could ever want.

Always liked them..
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

They are a very nice rifle :good:

Possibly the first full bore rifle I shot and have loved them since.

Beware SSG thumb!

If you shoot a SSG week and and opperate the bolt with your strong hand, you quickly realise the bolt has teeth - as it drags a hole accross your week hand thumb. I'm quite proud of that scar,

Mine.
The bolt handle is not a problem with the sniper version.

Be very gentle with the magazine and trigger guard….very fragile! ( are you still on with a metal replacement to take AI mags?)

I have a couple of spare bottom 'plastics' and both are cracked and chipped however the one that is fitted to the rifle is perfect as is the magazine. Having an SSG here is an important step for the AICS conversion as I have been stumbling somewhat on the feed height not owning the rifle myself.

Froggy, the rifle is post 1995 so the 'scope is a Swarovski ZFM6x42Z and I must admit I am quite impressed with it.
