Another new rifle........Saiga AK-103

#1 Post by snayperskaya »

As some will know I did a deal on another Dragunov last week and part of the deal included part-exing my AKMS underfolder, which AK-wise left me with just my old AKM.Went to my club yesterday and they had just taken in a 7.62x39 Saiga in the same configuration as an AK-103 which has black polymer furniture and a sidefolding stock.Sadly the stock was missing the release mechanism from inside it (sorted now, cheers Sconie :good:) so I got a few quid knocked off and got it for an absolute gift of a price. So I have sold my Enfield and a couple of one-for-one variations are in for the Saiga and the Dragunov so everything in the cabinet is now Russian.

Very nice.

Aside: Do you happen to know if RusMil are ever getting any of the .22LR AKMs again?

If given the option, ak 103 vs akms, which would you have. I have an akms and I do not know if the ak103 is better.

For a second I was feeling your pain ... What ... only one AKM in the safe ??? :o

The more I look at it, the more I appreciate its more "modern" look.
Great one Comrad Snayperskaya !!

I would say the 103 as it has an optics rail and is put together better than the AKMS.I spent quite a bit of time getting the AKMS how I wanted it (to resemble a Soviet Afghanistan era tankers rifle) and even went to the trouble of fitting the correct Soviet stock, as the standard Romanian stock is different (very much like an early Russian AKS-47 stock).

No sure, with what's going on in the Ukraine and with Russia I can see very long delays in stuff coming in, I believe the that the batch of Dragunovs he's waiting for have been about 18 months already.

Not to panic Tovarisch, it did have two Mosins and the SVDS for company ussrflag

My thinking is once I have the wood furniture on the SVD it will go nicely with the traditional AKM and the more modern 103 will sit happily with the SVDS with its black polymer furniture as the 103 and the SVDS came out around the same time
