Next purchase what do you reckon.

I had a P14 I sold it I have regretted it ever since I would buy another but the prices are crazy £550 to £650 for a reasonable one.
I also sold a Mosin Nagant and to my surprise I'm missing that as well.
So I have been thinking.(Yes I know that's dangerous)
Should I buy a P14 £550 to £650 or should I buy a Mosin Nagant sniper £600 to £650.
What do you reckon.

It depends on how prices have changed for the P14 over time. I'm not familiar with this rifle so I don't know if prices have fluctuated over time or if they've always gone up. From my understanding, "sniper" Mosin's (all matching of course) retail around £600 - £1,000 based on nosing around the internet over the past few years so it seems pretty stable. If a reasonable P14 is getting more expensive then that might tell you that they are becoming sought after and might be even more expensive later on?

Mosin Snipers for £600 will be FAKE originals are closer to the £850-1000+ Fake snipers may not be as accurate as you think the scopes are cheap and can fall apart inside from recoil.

Yep getting a good Russian MN sniper is now another minefield.

Also I got rid of my MN snipers years ago as they were a real bugger to shoot as the scope is mounted so high on them it was impossible for me to get a steady cheek weld and hold, so was never able to take advantage of their accuracy on the target, even when fitting cheek pads and risers it was just too uncomfortable, those Russian snipers must have been crossed with giraffes. Sold my very nice Swedish M41B for the very same reason.

Now you can really wrap yourself into a P14 for some easy accurate shooting.

A couple of years back I had a real hankering for a Mosin Nagant 91/30 maybe a Sniper, then I put the research in and found out it is such a minefield quality and provenance wise for what is not that good a bolt action service rifle.

My eyes are being cast in the direction of a Mauser action rifle, there appears to be a far better field of interesting stuff out there for that kind of rifle. The Persian Mausers are catching my eye at the moment.

Don't forget the Yugoslavian M48 mausers. I have the first rendition of the Yugoslavian Mausers (M48; they made M48A and M48B which introduced more stamped parts in place of milled parts) and they are great rifles. I got mine for £350 around 3 years ago and it was still covered in cosmoline. The bore has a mirror shine and with some handloads it shoots very well indeed!

Good point the Yugo M48 is a good buy albeit they are starting to drift North of £500 cost wise.

Well, I have to say of the 20 odd WW1/WW2 rifles I have the MN Sniper is the most accurate if that's what your after, it's the only one I have managed to get a Vbull with at 1000yds and has out performed many modern .308 shooters at our club, much to their surprise !
