FAC varitation. Employers details?
I've just sent off my certificate to add three extra firearms. Hopefully I can upgrade from small bore to full bore and have asked for: 7.92 Mauser, .308 and 7.62 Mosin. I have joined three Home Office approved clubs, inc NRA and jumped through all the hoops etc. Fingers crossed for me. A couple of things though...
I've noticed they ask for your employers contact details including number, email etc. Do they contact employers? Why do they need that info? Also, I've noticed that Home Office guidance states that 'good reason' can be target, vermin, etc but your local Chief
Officers are able to exercise discretion over what constitutes a good reason, judging each case on
its own merits. So does this mean that your CO can basically decide for themselves what is or isn't good reason? So they could basically decide that casual target shooting is not 'good reason' to own a full bore firearm and decline you the extra slot? Maybe I'm over analyzing things but I'm sure I remember hearing about recent new legislation that gave local Chief Officers authority to be pretty much a law unto themselves on these matters. Thoughts?

Target shooting will ALWAYS be "good reason," so don't worry. They've just built in some flexibility to account for unusual situations. They didn't ask for my employer's details, so I'm not 100% sure... Anyone?

I Dont think they've ever contacted my employer, although if they tried, I have given them the general company contact number for head office, they would be directed to HR, if they even got anywhere, and our HR dept would not give out any info about an employee. I declined to give them an email contact. certainly wouldn't give them a line managers emailLozza79 wrote: I've noticed they ask for your employers contact details including number, email etc. Do they contact employers? this stops you using vermin as your reason for a 303 when you can only shoot bunnies on the land. or from applying for a fac SG for cowboy action shooting, when not taking part in cowboy shootingAlso, I've noticed that Home Office guidance states that 'good reason' can be target, vermin, etc but your local Chief

I've just checked and it's on both the variation and the initial grant paperwork, although I don't recall ever noticing it... Are these new 201V or F201 forms or has it always been this way?

I can't remember that, I have just helped someone with an application and there was no mention of employer's details.
County specific?

We have had FAC's for almost 20 years the renewal and variation forms have always asked for your employers details, email/phone etc which have been filled in, they have never been contacted.

Just put your own contact details on!
Target shooting and vermin control are the two base reasons, what you mention gives the CC extra flexibility to grant an FAC for other reasons, not to restrict.

Re: FAC varitation. Employers details?
I have just checked Lincolnshire and sure enough they ask for it, just didn't take that in.
My renewal is up this year and I will not be filling that in.
