Places to shoot abroad
I thought I would start a thread for people to post details of places to shoot while on Holliday.
I found it hard to find anywhere on the island of Crete despite most people owning guns!!
Although I didn't actually get a chance to visit this place I thought I'd post details in case anyone else is here soon.

They do speak limited English (better than my Greek)
Open 10-7 Wednesday & Sundays for public / non members
Pay & play type basis , a range of handguns / shotguns / full bore rifles etc
Cost varies depending on firearms used.
Feel free to add other places you can shoot abroad with picture and contact details / reviews

Re: Places to shoot abroad
Well this thread is timely!
I'm currently helping to put together a possible 'practical pistol shooting' package/holiday in Corfu.
We have a range and the necessary infrastructure to make it happen as well as all the necessary legalities in place but we're trying to understand if there is an appetite for it?
I generally spend circa £1000 for a European Level 3 IPSC match but I am fortunate to have the time, resource & contacts to do this, sadly most do not, hence why I started to investigate other more accessible options.
Would shooters be interested in the following format?
Fri afternoon - training with IPSC coach
Sat morning - training with IPSC coach
Sunday - Level 1 match with circa 6 to 10 stages (300rds)
All guns, rigs & ammo provided. Light refreshments at the range and transfers to/from you accommodation.
Cost would be circa £400
Flights & accom would be your responsibility but local accommodation could be recommended.
We're only in the embryonic stages of this but a show of interest would be useful to see if we could get this off the ground.
NB: There is even the possibility of becoming 'overseas' members of the club and purchasing your own gun that could be brought to IPSC matches in other European countries should this take off.
You would not have to be a member of UKPSA nor a competition license holder to do this but it would be encouraged and required if you wanted to progress onto higher level matches.
Say Aye, all those in favour...

Re: Places to shoot abroad
I would definitely be interested.
Back to the OP question, I can recommend http://www.laxrange.com/ if you're in LA and have time to spend before your flight. 10 mins by taxi from the airport, good selection of guns, ammo. iirc two of us spent an hour or so, with some .9mm glocks and a. 223 AR-15 and loads of ammo for ~$150 all in.

Re: Places to shoot abroad
Very timely too.
Just finished working in San Diego for a week and pitched up here this morning on the off chance:
http://www.thegunrangesandiego.com/
Only requirements were official ID and a "friend". This was only as you were not allowed to shoot alone. I didn't but they gave me a card of an instructor I could pre book next time.
Seemed friendly and a good stock of firearms to rent out.

Re: Places to shoot abroad
IMO, the best places in Europe are in Slovenia, Poland, Slovakia, Hungagry & the Czech Rep .
I tried & shot in the last 4 and IMO the Czech Republic comes on top, offering easy access & very good V for M . Loadsa range reports on FB and the Web site is still a "work in progress" but gives you an idea :
http://dynamicshootingcz.co.uk/
Costs, choice of weapons are great but what matters most is the sheer quality & experience of the 2 instructors that is 1st class :good

Is this range just outside Heraklion in the hills? It looks like it, if it is then it's the one that I use when I'm in CreteDorset_shooter wrote:I thought I would start a thread for people to post details of places to shoot while on Holliday.

Re: Places to shoot abroad
I shoot when I am in the Philippines. I use the Armscor range in Cinema Square Makati. It's in a shopping mall :)
I think it's 1500 pesos (that's the foreigner price, 1000 if you are Filipino) for the range fee, gun rental, 50 rounds (reloads), safety equipment, instructor and targets. 25 m indoor range and a good variety of handguns available but they are all made by Armscor no 3rd party guns available.
There is also a range in Angeles City called Mountain Clark Shooting Range. http://www.mountainclarkfiringrange.com/
Here they have handguns and also semi and fully auto rifles. I never used this one but have a friend who uses it and he rates it well.
All in all good fun and not too expensive. Some of the guns are very old and worn but all the times I have shot there I've never had a stoppage.

When I'm back in a few days I'll make a list of all these places & put them in the original post so it's easy to find .
