Posting scopes

#1 Post by hobbesy »

How does everyone post their scopes (if they've done it)?

I looked at DPD and they won't touch anything remotely like a scope

Thanks

Royal mail. Pack it and weigh it, then pay for shipping cost online. Print out a label and attach to parcel then go ahead and drop it off at a post office. Over summer I shipped a scope in original packaging and all the post office cared about was cost of items for insurance.

In the absence of the original box a suitable length of plastic waste pipe and a load of bubble wrap works.

I use Parcel Farce 24hr, if it is good enough for Paul Burke it is good enough for me.

I've done it several times, when asked what the contents are, I say "optical instruments" which raises no eyebrows despite the considerable value I require insurance for. I never mention anything shooting related when sending stuff that is.
Careful now/that sort of thing

Also done several times via the local post office but as WelshShooter as stated get a price on line print label you may find it cheaper than over the counter. When asked whats inside reply micro scope which it is.... a small scope.

I always hang on to the round hard-cardboard tubes that bottles sometimes come in especially Xmas time. Useful for scopes and delicate items.
