Forum Edit Time

#1 Post by TomH »

Christel, my feeble male brain often thinks of more information or a better way of putting something a few minutes after posting. Please may we have the window for editing opened up a bit more or restored to how it was before?

I second that 5 minutes is ridiculous I dont know of any other forum that does not allow you to edit your posts and I have been using and moderating forums for years. Madness.

I agree. It would cut down on those tacked on afterthought posts that I would have otherwise have edited into my original post. It breaks up the flow of information.
I'm a slow typist and have run out of time on a number of occasions now. I'm also lazy so frequently I end up saying 'bo...cks, I'm not retyping that lot again.'
Fifteen minutes edit time doesn't seem unreasonable.

You can have all the editing time in the world if it was not for users who edit their for sale posts..deleting all info in the OP with a "SOLD".

I'll have a think about this.

Here is the opposite side of the coin........

Keeping it very short might deter the Mr Angry type who wants to post negative, knee jerk stuff. And the ones involved in tit for tat.

Knowing you cannot edit once you have reoccupied your happy place might instil restraint ?

Its not just the for sale posts, its buyers being deceitful when reselling something purchased on the forum deleting there original purchase posts etc. which contain handy information.

I always type my posts in Libre Office first and then copy and paste them into the forum when I am ready.
